My grandpa got given one of these when they were first released. Quite a humorous story actually!
He and his army buddies would put in for a lottery ticket every week. The one week that my grandpa couldn’t afford to put in for it, the ticket won. His buddies all felt bad for him so they all pitched in with their winnings and bought him a brand new FB wagon! Lucky bastard!
I almost bought an FB wagon last year. Drove up to a little place near Coonabarabran, and there was a super rusty but 90% complete body sitting up on blocks. Interior was half decent, had a couple smashed windows and the old 186 engine was merely a big chunk of pure rust. Could have made a sick little rusty cruiser with a lot of work, but just wasn’t practical to get all the way home and shit. Hopefully someone snatched it up before the bloke sent it to the scrap yard!
icharry asked: I'm just finding this site - AWESOME. Anyway, I think your fans will enjoy WHERE THEY RACED - a documentary film about the early days of racing & automotive innovation in Southern California and how that influenced car culture around the world. As an independent producer, I am reaching out to everyone to get a gasroots PR campaign started. My goal is to put a smile on the faces of old-timers and to introduce this amazing history to future generations. More to So Cal than smog & traffic.
